Top 3 this week

Here are our 3 favourite events happening this week

Pigstock 2025

Walkerton’s biggest ball weekend is back, with diamonds buzzing all day and a Saturday night dance that packs the hall. Rally the crew, cheer on your favourite team, then cap it with the Pigstock dance featuring City Ground.

Summerfolk 50

A lakeside tradition turns 50 with a weekend of music, makers, and mellow summer vibes at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park. Expect a stacked lineup—50 acts across six stages—plus the craft market and family fun that make Summerfolk a true Owen Sound original.

Gran Fondo Lake Huron

Ride for local health care with distances for every level, rolling out from Southampton in the morning and celebrating with a street party that night in Port Elgin. Funds support the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, so every kilometre feels good in the legs and the heart.

Sponsored Spotlight

Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery

Sip with a view.

Perched on the Niagara Escarpment overlooking Georgian Bay, Coffin Ridge is Grey County’s first winery, pouring small-batch bottles with local character.

Order a flight and try their signature trio, Into The Light White, Back From The Dead Red, and Resurrection RosĂŠ.

Then linger on the patio for wood-fired pizza on weekends and Summer Sunset Music on Friday nights. Book a tasting and make an evening of it.

Community Calendar

Our Community Calendar covers Grey & Bruce Counties. It’s a large area, so if we missed an event we are sorry, we will do better next time!

The Community Calendar was getting a bit too enthusiastic (thanks to all your submissions!). Turns out stuffing a week’s worth of local fun into one email makes for a very long scroll.

So we’ve given it its own space! Click the button below to check out the full lineup of events this week.

Foodie Flash

The Foundry 1872

If you like the kind of place where the staff remembers your name by dessert, this is it.

Housed in a charming 150-year-old building downtown Durham, The Foundry does cozy, comfort-forward plates with fun riffs from the kitchen. Locals rave about the Forged Fired Chicken Bites, jalapeĂąo-havarti stuffed and bacon wrapped, and the Metalworks Hot Dip that somehow disappears the second it hits the table.

Grab a seat on the patio, pair it with something cold, and leave room for whatever sweet treat the team is talking up that day. It feels like a neighbour’s kitchen, just with better lighting and zero dishes.

Hidden Gem of the week

Holyrood General Store

If you know, you know.

This tiny country shop on Bruce Road 1 is part general store, part gathering spot, and part summer ice-cream legend. It’s the kind of place where you’ll see neighbours catching up at the counter, a line of happy kids outside with cones, and the mail getting sorted in the back because the store also doubles as the local post office.

On hot weekends the scoops fly. Locals still talk about the Victoria Day they served more than 750 cones.

New ownership came on in 2023, but the feel is the same: friendly, fuss-free, and wonderfully old-school.

What to try: a jumbo waffle cone on the picnic tables out front.
